It all started with Warzywniak, a greengrocer’s shop opened by Mr Piotr’s wife, which inspired a stall at BioBazar 12 years ago. At the first editions of our organic market, Zielony Stragan was already exhibiting fruit and vegetables from Polish producers. Over time, the range expanded to include southern fruits and imported vegetables. Today, many people associate the stall with dairy products – fantastic cottage cheese, butter and cheese from Marian Nowak, as well as French and Italian cheeses. There are those who buy May butter from Marian Nowak’s farm by the kilogram to freeze it and preserve its flavour for longer – milk is best in spring for one simple reason: the pastures are lush and juicy, which is the basis of a cow’s diet. At Zielony Stragan, you can also find rare delicacies such as chocolate-covered cottage cheese bars, popular in Lithuania, or tubes of organic fruit mousse for children. Zielony Stragan is a family business, where you can meet three generations of the Cichecki family. These people know good food and can also give good advice.
