It all started in the Netherlands, where Tomek found inspiration. The first step was to set up a mushroom farm, then the range was expanded to include exotic species such as several varieties of oyster mushrooms, nameko, shitake, soplówka and maitake. In 2013, the farm obtained organic certification. The most important factor in organic mushroom cultivation is the substrate, which varies depending on the species we want to grow. It is rich and alive, in contrast to the barren substrates used in conventional cultivation. The quality of the substrate is crucial because mushrooms absorb nutrients from it intensively. It is important that it is natural, fertile and not enriched with artificial preparations. Exotic mushrooms are grown in special dark rooms where the temperature and humidity must be maintained at the right level. Before the mushrooms appear, the substrate must be cared for over many days, then optimal conditions for mycelium development must be created, so the process takes weeks.
